Obituary of Ruth E. Emmert
Bedford – Ruth E. Emmert, 90, of Bedford, died at 7:35 am on Wednesday, January 02, 2019 at Mitchell Manor.
Born January 21, 1928 in Oolitic, she was the daughter of Cyrus Vern and Mabel Doris (Fortner) Blackburn. She married John L. Brown on July 17, 1948. She later married Ed Aufenberg and he preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Dwight Emmert and he preceded her in death in 1996. Ruth retired from RCA in 1978 and had formerly owned the Dairy Barn in Bedford. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Dunn Memorial Hospital and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Gregory Brown and wife, Beth Walls of Mitchell; two granddaughters, Katelyn Brown, of Mitchell and Stephanie Sipes and husband, Steve, of Bedford; five grandsons, James Lee and wife, Jenny, of Paragould, AR, Justin and Jeremy Brown both of Bloomington, Brent Brown and wife, Emily, and Bradley Brown and companion, Callie Terrell, all of Orleans; four great grandchildren, Emma Grace Odell Brown, John Michael Brown, Nate Brown and Nash Brown; two brothers Russell Blackburn and wife, Marilyn, and Donald Blackburn and wife, Rita, all of Bedford; a sister, Doris Fountain, of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a son, Michael Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Nathan Sundt officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, January 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
