Obituary of John Robert Roach

Bedford – John Robert Roach, 79, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home in Bedford.

Born October 24, 1939 in Bedford, he was the son of John Chester and Mary Fern (Brooking) Roach. He married Mary Ann Hawkins on February 17, 1963 and she survives. He was a graduate of the Bedford High School class of 1958. He graduated from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI and was an engineer with General Motors for seven years. He then worked as an engineer at NWSC Crane for forty years.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved to play golf and tennis and was an amateur ham radio operator.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, of Bedford; two sons, John Russell Roach and wife, Tracy, of Naperville, IL and Jay Reid Roach and wife, Karen, of Fishers, IN; a daughter, Audra Reynolds and husband, Jeff, of Port Orange, FL; seven grandchildren, Whitney Reynolds, Jackson Reynolds, A.J. Reynolds, Nicholas Roach, Allison Roach, Justin Roach, and Matthew Roach; two sisters, Mary Catherine Roach Sipes, of Plainfield, IN and Linda Jo Roach Wyneken and husband, Steve, of Pryor, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, December 14^th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Michelle White officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 13^th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
