Obituary of Mike King

Bedford Mike King, Jr., 83, of Bedford, died at 4:14 pm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehab. in Bedford. Born August 3, 1926 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Mike King, Sr. and Ruby Irene (Hawkins) King. He married Mamie L. Flinn on February 3, 1961 and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2000. He served with the Merchant Marines from 1947 to 1951. He had worked at Bedford Building Supply and BlackCarmichael Lumber and later was a school bus monitor for North Lawrence Community School System. He was a member of the Dive Christian Church and American Legion. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and a stunt driver. Survivors include one son, Randall H. King and wife, Tina of Mitchell; granddaughter, Connie L. King; grandson, Daniel T. King; step granddaughter, Alisha Cooper; great grandchildren, Hayden Kirkman and Brooklyn Patton; step great grandchildren, Keygan Matheny, Madysen Feathers, Gabriel Brazzel and Ezari Brazzel; one brother, Robert H. King of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Adina Cooper; one brother, Arnold W. King and one sister, Betty King. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Pinhook Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
