Obituary of Jerry R Collins,Sr.

Bedford-Jerry R. Collins, Sr, 74, of Bedford died at 5:00am on Saturday, January 06, 2018 at the Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 8, 1943 in Columbus, IN he was the son of Oscar and Nettie (Coffey) Collins.  He married Alyce Rose on June 2, 1980 and she survives.  He retired as the YMCA Bloomington Property Manager after working 20 years.  Jerry was a member of the Church of the First Born, and the Orleans Masonic Lodge.  He was an avid golfer.  Jerry most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and tinkering in his garage. 

Survivors include his wife, Alyce  of Bedford; six children: Anita Bogan and husband Tim of Dallas, TX, Jerry Ray Collins, Jr of Indianapolis, Larry Boyd of Indianapolis, Terri Shoufler of Bedford, Mike Collins of Bedford, and Shelly Collins of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren: Sara Robertson and husband Derrick of Chicago, IL, Adam Koehler of Germany, Derek Moore of York, SC, Matt Shoufler of Greenwood, Drew Shoufler of Bedford, Tim Bogan of Dallas, TX, Emily Tackett of Shelbyville, and Kaylee Tackett of Shelbyville; two great grandchildren: Lilly Coley and Carter Jones both of Indianapolis; one brother, Sam Collins of Bloomington; two sisters: Mary Ellen Larson of Lillington, NC, and Rose Mason and husband Jim of Bloomington.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Martha and Ann. 

Visitation will be 4:00pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9th.  Cremation was chosen, there will be no funeral services.
