Although I am saddened greatly by Wilbur's passing, reading these wonderfully loving comments have allowed me to know Wilbur just a little more. It is clear he is a man of God and mentored many. He is with God today, I know. He will be one of the first I will celebrate with when we meet again.

To friends and family of Wilbur~
I ran around with Wilbur in high school; he was a bunch of fun. One memorable event was a summer when we attended the Jackson County Fair; Wilbur could swing a sledge hammer like nobody else. He won every big teddy bear they had, I believe it was 26, which we handed out to girls of course, and came home with the car stuffed with bears. Every time he swung the hammer, he rang the bell. A large crowd gathered, laughing and applauding. They'd never seen anything like Wilbur.
Just wanted to share that memory with Judy, Willy, Annabelle, and all the family. I'm sorry for your big loss. But I have to add: Wilbur always seemed like a happy man.

Although I had very few opportunities to visit with my dear cousin Wilbur at a few Fields reunions, I instantly saw the beautiful and godly spirit that I saw in my grandfather William Fields from many years ago. Wilbur embodied so many of our Lord’s qualities and teachings in his life. He loved his family dearly and was always so kind to me and Mom when we visited. You will all be in my prayers and thoughts. Until we meet again my dear Wilbur. Love to all.

I've had the pleasure to get to know each of you from day care in the 1970s, at Oolitic as teacher, and then Wilbur through dulcimer music. The love and care for others in each of you is precious to so many in our community and beyond. Some of the best times in my life were spent with Wilbur, from all the Boy Scout campouts to the canoe trips we took together in Minnesota.
