Obituary of Warren Nikirk

October 13, 1922 – October 20, 2017

Oolitic- Warren Nikirk, 95, of Oolitic, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born October 13, 1922 in Oolitic, he was the son of Isaac and Lizzie (Butler) Nikirk.  Warren married Gladys Wagoner on August 31, 1943 and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2005.  He was a truck driver.  He was a veteran of the US Airforce serving during WWII.  He was also a member of the Oolitic Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include one son, Tom Nikirk of Oolitic; one daughter, Carol Parish and husband Carl of Bedford; one granddaughter, Corey Brooke Nikirk of Oolitic; two brothers, Jerry Nikirk and wife Linda of Oolitic, Mike Nikirk and wife Kim of Kodiak, TN; three sisters, Elsie Webb of Oolitic, Betty Speer and husband Kenny of Oolitic, and Kay Rathsman and husband Everett of Columbus, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Larry Nikirk, step-mother, Ida Nikirk, and two brothers, Wendell and Walter Nikirk.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 until the hour of service on Wednesday.
