Obituary of Opal Dale Deckard

Opal Dale Deckard October 11, 1925- February 11, 2017 Bedford – Opal Dale Deckard, 91, of Bedford, died at 2:10 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at White River Lodge. Born October 11, 1925 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Wesley J. and Belva (Meadows) Deckard. He married Thelma Phillips on November 20, 1943 and she survives. He was a retired farmer. He attended the Grace Full Gospel Church. He loved farming, his family and playing guitar and singing. Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of Bedford; one son, Philip Deckard and wife Sharon (Holmes) of Bedford; one grandson, Carey Dale Deckard and wife Janelle (Fultz) of Bedford; two great-granddaughters, Madelyn Grace Deckard and Meredith Elaine Deckard, both of Bedford; one sister, Vernice Ross of Bedford; one sister-in-law, Ada Deckard of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Belva Deckard; one brother, Vestal Deckard; and one sister, Loretta Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Brent O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hanson Cemetery Trust Fund. Donations can either be dropped off at Day & Carter Mortuary, or mailed to Day & Carter Mortuary P.O.
