Obituary of Mary L. Girdley

Owensburg – Mary L. Girdley, 91, of Owensburg, died at 6:25 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Born April 9, 1925 in Greene Co., she was the daughter of John C. and Nina C. (Mitchell) Parsley. She married Frank E. Girdley on August 31, 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1997. She worked for RCA in Bloomington and later for NWSC Crane. She was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Marsha Girdley, of Owensburg, Rita Key and husband, Marshall, of Bedford, Sherri Bartlett and husband, Jerry, of Heltonville; thirteen grandchildren, Ian U. Girdley and Uriah C. Girdley, both of Owensburg, Marcy Starr and husband, Mark, and Caleb Key and wife, Karyn, all of Bedford, Jon Key and wife, Jennifer, of Solsberry, Keesha Presser and husband, Chuck, Lucus Bartlett and wife, Mickey, and Hannah Hudson and husband, Chris, all of Bedford, Amy Kines and husband, Brian, of Owensburg, Brian Caswell and wife, Deanna, of Springville, Travis Caswell and wife, Jennifer, of Owensburg, Caitlyn Bohall and husband, Nathan, of Bloomington, Justin Caswell and wife, Jakki, of Springville; twenty-three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; a son-in-law, Dale Caswell of Springville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Brenda Girdley and Tammi Caswell; a son, Mark Girdley (in infancy); two brothers, Lloyd and Leo Parsley; three sisters, Coy Hatfield, Izota Fields and Berniece Baker. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, August 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with her nephews, Clovis and Dennis Parsley officiating. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
