Obituary of Richard Carl McGowen

Springville – Richard Carl McGowen, 69, of Springville, died at 10:00 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born July 13, 1946 in Unionville, IN, he was the son of Frank and Mary (Zink) McGowen. He married Elham “Lula” Tadros on July 4, 1974 and she survives. He had worked at RCA for twenty-seven years and retired as a dispatcher for Hall Brothers Trucking after fifteen years. He attended Cornerstone Worship Center and loved basketball, football, racing and American history. Survivors include his wife, Lula, of Springville; two sons, Travis McGowen and wife, Dana, of New Albany, Tyler McGowen and wife, Beth, of Jeffersonville; five grandchildren, Madelyn Grace, Samuel Lane, Miriam Nagia, Silas Tyler and Benjamin Grey (expected July 5th). He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine McGowen. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Greg Harvey and Pastor Gereld Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
