Obituary of Elsie Kathryn Mullis
Bedford – Elsie Mullis for the last six months (really few years) has been battling a lion with a stick. June 24th she lost that battle but let me tell you that is one sore and bruised lion. Elsie fought the good fight and finished the race, and she has kept the faith. Now there is in store for her a crown of rightousness, which the Lord, the Good Righteous Judge, will award to her this day.
Born February 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Lester and Mary (Harp) Gerkin. She married Perry Mullis on October 15, 1950 and he survives. She was a farmer, homemaker and secretary at Mullis Petroleum. While raising her six sons, Elsie taught Sunday School and led many other activities for small children through teenagers at the Free Methodist Church for over fifty years. She was a member of the church for over sixty years.
Survivors include her husband, Perry, of Bedford; six sons, Terry Mullis and wife, Georgann, Michael Mullis and wife, Leslie, Tim Mullis and wife, Pat, David Mullis and wife, Libby, Brian Mullis and wife, Lynn, Kevin Mullis and wife, Wendi, all of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren, Katie Kresser and husband, Todd, Isaiah Mullis and wife, Mendy, Brady Mullis and wife, Casey, Aimee Peddie and husband, Mike, Nancy Paledino and husband, Sam, Jason Mullis and wife, Aimee, Dana Blair-Hutton, Christopher Mullis and wife, Jennifer, Nick Mullis, Jessica Payne and husband, Rob, Patrick Mullis and wife, Kristina, Dusty Lannan and wife, Erin, Adam Mullis and wife, Christie, Brittany Osterhage and husband Michael, Josh Mullis and wife, Laci; twenty-three great grandchildren and two on the way; one sister, Barbara Fish of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, June 29th at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford with Pastors John Lane and Reed Beard officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 28th at the Free Methodist Church. Please bring a favorite memory or story of Elsie to place in a memory basket. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the North Lawrence Scholarship Foundation or the Between the Crowd Ministry.
