Obituary of Herbert Brooks

Bedford –Herbert L. Brooks, 70, of Bedford, died at 9:47 pm on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at I.U. Health Hospice House. Born September 22, 1944, in Lafayette, IN, he was the son of Harley and Audrey Brooks. He married Patricia Barrow on January 10, 1970 and she preceded him in death in 2002. He was a truck driver and member of the Bedford Eagles Lodge. Survivors include two sons, Richard Brooks of Lafayette, IN and Mike Thompson and wife, Cindy, of Mitchell; three daughters, Sheila Ferran of Paoli, Vonda Carpenter and boyfriend, Eddie Kern, of Mitchell, Wanda Sykes and husband, Raymond, of Mitchell; twenty-three grandchildren; sixty-great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother, Gary Brooks and a sister, Carol Pitman of Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, George and Robert and one sister, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 2nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Harold Godsey officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, Arpil 2nd at New Unionville Little Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1st at the Day & Carter Mortuary with an Eagles Service conducted at 6:30 pm.
