Barb, Margaret and family....I have to agree with the other posts on here, and I remember spending time at the Girdley's a lot when Barb & I were teenagers. We were always doing something with our hair in that little room off the kitchen or sewing & Naomi was right there with us, never getting flustered or irritated by us teenaged girls & none of us minded her being there (as teenaged girls could be a little goofy in that way). We were having a lot of fun. Naomi taught me how to sew and helped me with my Junior & Senior prom dresses. There were three generations living in that house at that time & we all used to remark about how well they all got along...I mean, really got along. I believe Naomi was largely responsible for that, her being the hub of the family, and always calm, soft-spoken, at least when I was there & a great sense of humor. This last Christmas (2011)I got to spend Christmas Day evening at that house again & sat next to Naomi at the dinner table. As I was driving back to my house, it dawned on me how warm and peaceful I felt (and I hadn't felt that way all day as it was my first Christmas without my brother). I wish I had told Barb to tell her mom that later. She was still the hub of the family. Barb & Margaret--you can be proud Naomi was your Mom. Take care & may God help you with your grief. Love you guys, Jan

I am honored to have known Naomi nearly all my life. She was my Brownie Scout Leader in the mid-1950's and we attended the same church for many years. Our entire family loved her and she was almost like extended family to all of us. Naomi was a very special person, she was a wonderful lady, always smiling, cheerful, and doing things for others. She was a hard worker, and so proud of her family, one of the most loving people I've ever known. It was a blessing to know her at all. I am sorry for her passing and she will be missed by many people.
