Obituary of Jesse P. Gilliland
Bedford Jesse P. Gilliland, 73, of 2904 Ted Jones Dr., Bedford, died at 10:20 pm on Monday, May 24, 2004 at Dunn Memorial Hospital.
Born February 6, 1931 in Tell City, IN, he was the son of William Henry and Mary Bird (Blake) Gilliland. He married Patsy Pauline Tincher on December 31, 1952 and she survives. He was a forklift operator at GM Powertrain in Bedford. He was a member of Bedford Baptist Temple, American Legion Gillen Post #33 of Bedford, Eagles Lodge #654 and U.A.W. Local #440. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an avid bowler.
Surviving with his wife, Patsy are two daughters, Susie York and her husband, John of Bedford and Mary P. Paul and her husband, Jeff of Kansas; two sons, Jesse P. (Bubba) Gilliland and his wife, Marylou of Bedford and David W. Gilliland and his wife, Donna of Louisiana; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Feeley of Matton, IL and Dorothy Siegmund of Tolona, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and fifteen brothers and sisters. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 28th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Steve Goens officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 27th at the Day & Carter Mortuary where an Eagles service will be conducted at 7:00 pm.
