Obituary of Evelyn L. Gentry

Bedford Evelyn L. Gentry, 87, of 105 P Street, Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 1:50 pm. Born August 1, 1917 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Elza D. and Edna (Stultz) Hawkins. She married Ernest E. Gentry on August 21, 1938 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1976. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a long time member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Gentry of Indianapolis; Donna Holtsclaw and her husband, Lexie of Bedford and Janice Gentry of Daytona Beach, FL; one brother, Willis Hawkins and his wife, Minnie of Bedford; three grandchildren, Lexie Holtsclaw, Jr. and his wife, Tami of Bedford, Warner C. Colyer and his wife, Debbie of Greenwood and Scott Holtsclaw and his wife, Tracy of Needmore; seven great grandchildren, Brooke Teague and her husband, Chad, Brittany Anderson and her husband, Shile, Blair Holtsclaw, Renee Colyer, Kristi Colyer, Courtney Holtsclaw and Kennedy Holtsclaw; two great great grandchildren, Zane Anderson and Hadley Teague. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and granddaughter, Debra Lynn Holtsclaw. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, October 8th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Christian Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 7th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
