Obituary of Alice M. Fortner

Bedford Alice M. Fortner, 86, of Bedford, died at 1:43 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford. Born May 8, 1921, she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Maude Dessie (Bennett) Sego. She married Ernest Walter Fortner on May 27, 1939 and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1993. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Free Methodist Church where she was also involved in the Merry Widows group. Alice was a charter member of the Bedford Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Fortner Roberts of Bedford; one son, Ernest Michael Fortner of Oolitic; three grandsons, Michael Shannon Fortner and his wife, Donna and Stephen Howard Roberts all of Bedford and Timothy Scott Fortner and his companion, Jessica Emmons of Oolitic; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; one sister, Shirley Gilstrap and her husband, George of Bedford; one brother Jerry Sego of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law, Hildred Fortner Cobb of Tucson, AZ and Esther Fortner of Cape Cod, MA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, Arlie, Donald, Arthur, William, Charles and Ray Sego and two brothers in infancy. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 29th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Colgan and Roger Gales officiating.
