Obituary of Charles Fields
Fayetteville Charles Fields, Jr., 86, of Fayetteville, IN, died at 2:52 am on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born April 28, 1928 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Charles and Violet (Pierce) Fields. He married Alta Mae Crane on April 28, 1949. He retired as a truck driver for Indiana State Highway and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a past president of the Eagles. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his best friend, Alta Mae Crane of Bedford; a son, Charles Andrew (Andy) Fields and wife, Grace, of Pierre, SD; a daughter, Joanne Spaulding and husband, James, of Fayetteville; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl L. Fields of Florida and Wayne Fields of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jerry Fields; a brother, Cecil Fields and a sister, Maggie Fields Fisher. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 and D.A.V. Chapter 2. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 21st and from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Tuesday, July 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
