Obituary of Janet Sue Eagan

Bedford Janet S. Eagan, 74, of Bedford, passed away peacefully at 4:55 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at her residence. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born December 24, 1938 in Bedford to Henry and Lillie (Box) Jenkins. She spent the majority of her life being Mamaw Janet to all of the many kids that she babysat for. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed camping and was an avid I.U. basketball fan. She will be greatly missed. Her Christian family included East Oolitic Community Church and Hillcrest Christian Church. As a young woman, she married Cecil Melton. Later she married Clyde Phipps and Clovis Eagan who both preceded her in death. She is survived by seven children, Michael Eagan, Rosemary (Boyd) Godsey, Donna (Jeff) Richie, Cathy McFarland, Diana (Tony) Starr, Tina (Mike) Beedie and Lori Gorman; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren. She was one of twelve children and is survived by brother, Joe Jenkins and John Jenkins her twin brother; sisters, Alice Stearns and Zella Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Michael; four brothers, Art, Hubert, Bill and Perry; three sisters, Helen, Leatha and Ethel. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 until the hour of the service on Saturday.
