Obituary of Eugene Laverne Duncan

Bedford Eugene Laverne Duncan, 84, of 707 20th Street, Bedford, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at his home. Born January 5, 1927, in Oolitic, he was the son of Edward and Ethel (Wright) Duncan. He married Rozella Richardson in 1949 and she survives. He was a veteran of WW II serving in Japan and was a member of the Grace Full Gospel Church. He worked at RCA for fifteen years and also worked for Thompson Dairy. He was a self-employed carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Rozella of Bedford; five sons, Mark Duncan and wife Pam, Larry Duncan and wife Barbara, Dale Duncan and wife Bobbie, Dennis Duncan and Rick Duncan and wife Patsy all of Bedford; grandchildren, Jason Duncan, Angie Tidd, Justin Duncan, Kimberly Duncan, Sarah Terry, Mathew Duncan, John Coe, Lisa Duncan and Scotty Duncan; fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Connie Miller, Claudia (Ernestine) Hudlin, Violet Allen and Charlotte Pierce; one brother, Edward Duncan; two grandchildren, April and Lori Duncan. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 17th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Brent ONeal officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
