Obituary of Joe Richard Dobkins

Bedford-Joe Richard Dobkins, 77, of 1616 13th Street Bedford died at 11:26 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born December 23, 1933 in Bedford, IN he was the son of Dow Dale and Elsie (Bolding) Dobkins. He married Mona Conner on July 19, 1968 and she survives. He retired from General Motors as a die cast cleaner on October 1, 2003. He was a Paratrooper for the U.S. Army and a member of the UAW Local # 440. He was an avid roller skater and managed Anderson Rollerland for over 20 years. Survivors include his wife Mona Gail of Bedford; one daughter: Brandi Dobkins of Bedford; two sisters: Martha McReynolds of Arizona and Jeanette Ashley of Michigan City, IN; two sisters in law: Margaret Dobkins and Lois Dobkins; two nieces: Janet Collier of Bloomington, and Delores Johnson of Bloomington; one nephew: Wayne Hotseller of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Dobkins, and three brothers: Robert, Raymond, and Jackie Dobkins. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Glen Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14th and from 11:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday, June 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
