Obituary of Joanna S. Dixon

Bedford Joanna S. Dixon, 79, of 2012 G Street, Bedford, died at 2:10 am on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, IN. Born February 26, 1925 in Lafayette, IN, she was the daughter of Cord Cox and Jennie (Holliday) Cox-Dodson. She married Robert Dixon May 31, 1946. She retired from the family owned business, D & M Cleaners in 1987. She had attended Grace Methodist Church and was a member of the Club 55 Bowling League. Surviving with her husband, Robert, of fifty-eight years, are one son, John Dixon and his wife, Darla of Bedford; two daughters, Susanne Denny and her husband, Mike of Easley, SC and Janie Boenig and her husband, Chuck of Mason, OH; five grandchildren, Melissa Rodriguez, Michael Denny, Jackie Boenig, Shera and Ryan Dixon; two great grandchildren, Alaina and Anthony Rodriguez; one sister, Irene Wood of Cicero; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Alice Pogue of Florida and Mid Parkhurst of Carmel; seven nieces and nephews, Marsha Fuson, Larry Cox, Bob Wood, Jan Wood, Joan Williamson, and Tom Dixon and Cindy McHale. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cord Cox and Jennie Dodson; her step-father, Lue Dodson and one brother, Robert Cox. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 7th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Ray Brinegar officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Ryan Dixon, Tom Dixon, Mike Denny, Michael Denny, Chuck Boenig and Bob Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Jed Morrison and Hillard Lewis.
