Obituary of Jerry D. Deckard

Bedford Jerry D. Deckard, 72, of Bedford, died at 7:30 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital. Born April 3, 1941 in Monroe Co., he was the son of James W and Madelyn (Kinser) Deckard. He married Katie Mayden on January 20, 1968 and she survives. He retired as an internal-external grinder at W.F. Myers after thirty-eight years of service. Survivors include his wife, Katie, of Bedford; a daughter, Jennifer Nikirk and husband, Chad, of Bedford; a son, Chris Deckard and wife, Misty, of Bedford; three grandchildren, Kayla and Sydney Deckard and Chase Nikirk; two brothers, George Deckard, James Deckard and wife, Roanna, all of Bedford; a sister, Julie Spires and husband, Wayne of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Bob Holler officiating. Burial will follow in the Kinser Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
