Obituary of Robert L. Davis

Bedford Robert L. Davis, Sr., 88, resident of Westview Manor Nursing and Rehab. died at 6:55 am on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born May 3, 1918, he was the son of Levi A. and Dora (Quillen) Davis. He married Stella E. Meadows on October 17, 1941. He was a maintenance worker at Parkview School in Bedford and of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II in the South Pacific and a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Godbey and her husband, Stanley of Bedford; five sons, Robert L. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Sandy; James H. Davis and his wife, Linda; Gary A. Davis and his wife, Brenda; Thomas R. Davis and his wife, Diane all of Mitchell, IN; Stephen K. Davis and his wife, Susie of Spencer, IN; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother, Emmett Bud Davis of Martinsville; two sisters, Barbara Chamness of Martinsville and Jane Davis of Oolitic. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, William and Merle Davis and two sisters, Margie Parker and Mildred Ryan. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 22nd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Brian Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.
