Obituary of Wayne Anderson

Bedford Wayne M. Anderson, 96, a resident of White River Lodge, died at 3:05 am on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at White River Lodge. Born February 11, 1912 in Bedford, he was the son of Oscar and Elizabeth (Rich) Anderson. He married Viola Lee and she preceded him in death on January 9, 2007. He was a meter reader with the water dept. for the City of Bedford and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Air Force. Wayne was a past ninth district adjutant for the American Legion. He was a life-time member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion where he had served as a past commander and was a member of the 40 & 8. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Cummings and her husband, Ronald of Bedford; a granddaughter, Heather Cummings of Plainfield, IN; two sisters, Clara Bartley and Mary Smith both of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola and five brothers. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 21st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 of Bedford. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to the hour of service on Thursday, August 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
