Obituary of Zelma Crane
Oolitic Zelma Wilson Crane, 74, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2011.
Born February 6, 1937 to Alex and Magdalene (Morrow) Wilson. She married her high school sweetheart, Dean Crane on February 12, 1955 and they were married fifty years when he passed away on October 19, 2005. She was employed at Cortron in Orleans for twenty years before she became a stay at home mom and surrogate grandma to many of her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Mom was famous for her home cooking and especially her homemade noodles. There was always a meal for anyone to share. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her gentle touch and loving arms will be greatly missed. She was loved and cherished by her loving daughters, Sandra Owens and husband, Wayne of Springville, Donna Baker and husband, Mike of Bedford; a niece, Brenda Corey who was also raised as a daughter in the home; grandchildren, Michael Joe Baker and wife, Julie of Mitchell, Laci Owens Miller and fiance, Jon Hays of Springville, Kyle Owens of Bloomington; nine great grandchildren, Mallory Lynn, Michael Ray, Peyton Marie and Kaya Jade Baker, Mattea Mae, Mackenlee Dean, Elijah Josiah, Emmalie Jolyn Miller, she was preceded in death by great granddaughter, Mackenzie Mae Jolyn Miller. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. One of thirteen children, she is survived by two sisters, Rosalee Wright and Kathy New; two brothers, Floyd Wilson and Earl Dean Wilson all of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; siblings, Carl Wilson, Cecil Wilson, Dorothy Sego, Emma Poole and four in infancy, Wendell, Chester, Doris and Zelmas identical twin sister, Thelma. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 3rd and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, June 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
