Obituary of Perry Dale Jenkins
Bedford Perry Dale Jenkins, 76, of 122 Leatherwood Creek Estates, Bedford, died at 4:52 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his residence.
Born May 29, 1932 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Henry and Lilly (Box) Jenkins. He married Annabelle Pemberton and she survives. Perry served twenty-six and years in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars where he was an LPN. He then worked for seventeen years with Otis Elevator and was a home builder for three years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0708 of Indianapolis and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, Annabelle of Bedford; one son, Chris Jenkins of Mitchell; one grandson, Jay Eric Jenkins of North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Maxwell Hunter, Alexandra Dade and Ella Jayne Jenkins; three sisters, Alice Stearns, Janet Eagan and Zella Rose; two brothers, John and Joe Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Adina Cooper; one son, Jeffery Scott Jenkins; three brothers, Arthur, Bill and Hubert Jenkins; three sisters, Ethel Allen, Letha McCormick and Helen Cazee. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 24th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jeff Hauersperger officiating. Burial will follow in the Knott Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 23rd and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, January 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
