Obituary of Creed Carter Childers

Bedford Creed Carter Childers, 87, of Benham Lane, Springville, died at 3:42 am on Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born January 20, 1917 in Sprule, KY, he was the son of Henry and Nannie (Burton) Childers. He married Zona Cobb on October 17, 1938 and she survives. He retired as a custodian at Bedford North Lawrence High School and was a member of the Springville Pentecostal Mission. Surviving with his wife, Zona, are two sons, Hurshel Childers and his wife, Wanda of Guthrie, IN and Dale Childers and his wife, Carolyn of Springville; three daughters, Betty Flynn and her husband, Don; Nancy Kluesner and her husband, Linus of Springville and Sue Flynn of Florida; two brothers, Willie Childers of Kentucky and Fount Childers of Muncie; two sisters, Nannie Hacker and Martha Davidson both of Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter, Brittany Boshears. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Wendell Phillips and Bro. Dexter Worrell officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 10th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
