Obituary of James R. Child

Bedford James R. Child, 74, of 2620 Washington Ave., Bedford, died at 1:09 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington. Born August 16, 1934 in Bedford, he was the son of Russell H. and Alberta (Stephens) Child. He married Patsy Lou Lewis on April 6, 1956 and she survives. James was a mechanical contractor and former owner of H.F.I. Inc. He was a thirty- four year member of the American Patriot Lodge #750 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine, American Legion Gillen Post #33, Bedford Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Patsy, of Bedford; two daughters, Debra L. Norman and her husband, Rick, Kim Child-Thomas; a son, Bradley S. Child and his wife, Kay all of Bedford; grandchildren, Cory Thomas and his wife, Sarah, Hadyn Child, Dylan Norman, Drew Norman, Haley (McDaniel) Brummett and her husband, David and Laura Norman; five great grandchildren, Madisyn, Reece, Hadley, Kaden and Braden, all of Bedford; a sister, Mary Ann Baker and her husband, Bill of Bedford and one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 7th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded and the graveside by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 6th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, March 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
