Obituary of Vernon Haws

Bedford Vernon Haws, 85, of Bedford, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at his residence. He had been in failing health since September.Born February 9, 1922 in Danville, IL, he was the son of Lawrence E. and Viola (Brooking) Haws. He married Margaret Faye Ollis on July 21, 1945 and she preceded him in death on April 25, 1986. He was a self-employed auto body repairman for many years in Lawrence Co. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy and a member of the Pinhook Cemetery Assoc. and the Cedar Lodge #141 F & AM. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on cars. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who was dearly loved by his family he will be greatly missed. Survivors include four daughters, Susan Twanette East of Columbus, IN, Trudy Elaine Brown and her husband, Johnny of Norman, IN, Nicola (Nicki) Penny Wesner and her husband, Alan of Leesville, IN and Raenel Vernay Gibson and her husband, Mike of Spencer, IN; seven grandsons, Darren East of Kentucky, Devin East and his companion, Jill Horn of Columbus, Jamie Brown and his wife, Allison of Norman, Drs. Klent Brown and his wife, Kim of Norman, Todd Brown and his wife, Jaime Ann of Norman, Brandon Wesner and his wife, Jessica of Leesville, Travis Wesner and his wife, Samantha of Leesville; two granddaughters, Brittany Gibson and Kaitlyn Gibson both of Spencer; thirteen great grandchildren, Jacob and Jesse East, Kaliah, Quincy and Corbin East, Eli and Ella Brown, Cora, Oliver Vernon and Porter Brown, Isabella Brown, Taylor and Clayton Wesner; one sister, Mildred Weiper of Carmel, IN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Margaret Wise. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 16th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
