Obituary of Doyle L. Byers

Bedford-Doyle L. Doggie Byers 85, died at 7:16 P.M. at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 27, 1920 in Oolitic, he was the son of Noble and Lula (Patton) Byers. He married Betty Jo Turmail on December 20, 1942 and she preceded him in death on July 7, 1987. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford, a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator gunner. He was also a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Survivors include: one son; Joe Byers and his wife Debbie, of Greenfield; one daughter: Amy Oliver and her husband, John of Bedford. Five grandchildren; Nicole Byers, Jessica Byers, and Leslie Byers, Heather Oliver and Britta Oliver; one sister June Hutchinson and her husband, Lee of Mitchell. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M Tuesday, August 23rd from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Mark McDaniel officiating. Entombment will follow at the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00P.M. on Monday, August 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
