Obituary of Frederic W. Byers
Frederic Wayne Byers, 88, of Springville, IN went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:58 P.M. Friday, July 29, 2011. Born June 7, 1923 in Springville, the son of Cyrus and Minnie (Hubbard) Byers, Mr. Byers was a member of the last graduating high school class at Springville in 1942. Married Betty (Cathers) June 20, 1943.
Mr. Byers entered service during World War II, serving in the European Theater in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany. Mr. Byers participated in major offensives including holding the bridge at Remagen and in the Ardennes during the Battle-Of-The-Buldge.
Returning from the war, Mr. Byers worked as a carpenter and finished his career as owner and operator of Byers Excavating until his retirement. Mr. Byers was a member of the Elks and a life time member of the American Legion.
Mr. Byers enjoyed fishing, woodworking, serving others and supporting the community.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Betty (Cathers), one daughter Rebecca Byers of Springville, a son Robin Byers (Donna Byers) of Carmel, and a granddaughter Kathryn Olivia Byers of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Minnie and Cyrus Byers, six brothers Glen, Burl, Edwin, Dwight, Vance and Gene. Three sisters, Dorothy Homes, Bernadine Andis, Geneva Byers, and a granddaughter Tessa Elyse Byers. Funeral Information
Visitation for Frederic will be held at Day & Carter Mortuary, Monday August 1, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 and the funeral service on Tuesday August 2nd at 10:30 with burial in the Louder Cemetery. Donations Information
