Obituary of Carl D. Boyer
Bedford Carl D. Boyer, Jr., 80, of 504 Forest View Dr., Bedford, died at 9:29 am on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville, IN.
Born April 5, 1930 in Bedford, he was the son of Carl Dwight and Helen (Moore) Boyer. He married Marlene Mendenhall on February 15, 1952 and she survives. He was a Customer Service Center Supervisor at U.S. Gypsum in Shoals for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1988 and was a former Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Bedford. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for over fifty years and was a choir member for thirty years. He was a member of the Bedford Boys Club where he served on the board of directors, a member of the Bedford Elks Club for fifty-eight years, Gillen Post #33 American Legion for over fifty years, Bedford City Council for twenty years, Dunn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Bedford; three sons, Scott Boyer and wife, Bonnie of Solsberry, IN Steve Boyer and wife, Connie of Shoals, IN and Brett Boyer and wife, Susan of Lizton, IN; grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife, Rachel, Bradley, Amber and husband, Robbie, Brian, Helen, Emily, Anna, Jacob, Samantha and Savanna, Cassie and husband, Jarod, Dana and husband, John; great grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Zaylee, Brooklyn and Addison; a brother, Ned Boyer and wife, Mary Nell of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Sally Ann. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Beth Ann Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Donations Information
