Obituary of Robert E. Bottorff
Bedford Robert E. Bottorff, 82, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Born June 7, 1922 in Bedford, he was the son of Cecil and Flossie (Lee-Sears) Bottorff. He married Alma Godsey on May 24, 1941 and she survives. He was a retired supervisor at NSWC CRANE and had worked for the Bedford North Lawrence School System. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. He was a member of the National Guard, and the Englewood Baptist Church. He had been a youth leader, trustee and a Sunday School Teacher at Springville Methodist Church. He was a member of the CCC at Spring Mill State Park.
Survivors include his wife, Alma of Bedford; one son, Robert Bottorff and his wife, Mary Janice of Bedford; one daughter, Carol Spaulding of Bedford; four grandsons, John Spaulding, II and his wife, Pam of Albany, GA, James Spaulding and his wife, Joanne of Bedford, Tim Bottorff and his wife, Jodi of Bloomington and Matt Bottorff and his wife, Amy of Conroe, TX; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Sears and his wife, Marci; two sisters, Janice Wagoner and her husband, Bobby and Betty Reuter and her husband, Don and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Alhorn. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, December 31st from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 30th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
