Obituary of Frank H. Wigley
Bedford Frank H. Wigley, Sr., 89 of 504 H Street, Bedford, passed away at peace in to the Garden at 12:15 pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital.
Born February 2, 1917 in Durant, MS, he was the son of William Adelbert and Beulah (Posey) Wigley. He first married Evelyn Mitchell. He then married Annabelle Banks. He later married Janice Sue Martin and she survives. He was employed at the tank factory in Bedford during WW II and later at Stone City Steel. He retired after thirty years at Triangle & Leahy in Bedford. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #136 for fifty-eight years and a life time member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmans Club. Frank enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. He loved a good joke and his favorite phrase is Dont worry, be happy. He was taught, by his father, the art of blacksmithing which led to many years of making metal figures and sculptures. Later in life, he also taught others in the trades of welding and pipefitting. The I.U. School of Art is teaching a folkart class in his name. He has many items on display at the Lawrence County History Museum. He also knitted hats for cancer patients of the area.
Surviving with his wife, Janice of Bedford is one son, Frank, Jr. and his wife, Katie Sue of Bedford; a special sister-in-law, Carolyn Wigley of Alabama; a special niece, Marynelle Cole of Mississippi; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a step-daughter, Deborah Ann Widgeon and her husband, Troy of Tennessee; two step-sons, Michael Brent and Gregory Dean and his wife, Michelle all of Bedford. His passing preceded the birth of his first great granddaughter, Allie Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one daughter, Thelma Sue, one son, Bill Henry Wigley, three brothers, two half-brothers, four sisters, one step-daughter, Tammara Sue. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 16th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Dave Colgan and Pastor Ronnie McLain officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
