Obituary of Robert L. Whitehead

Bedford Rev. Robert L. Whitehead, 70, of 11 Heartland Street, Bedford, died at 4:41 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born February 26, 1936 in Anderson, IN, he was the son of Otto W. and Vivian (Kinneger) Whitehead. He retired from R.C.A. in 1997 after forty-four years of service and from the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1994 after twelve years of service. He worked part-time at Big Lots Store and the U.S. Forrest Service. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 1424. He pastored at Pleasant Run, Knight Ridge and Friendship Churches and did nursing home ministry at the Hospitality House in Bedford. He attended the Englewood Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Monagale Mellinger and her husband, Rick of Bloomington; two sons, Kenneth D. Whitehead of Bedford, Rick Whitehead and his wife, Corinne of Avoca; seven grandchildren, Sarah Breedlove, Ashley Breedlove, Evan Mellinger, Matthew Whitehead, Carrie Hardesty, Katie Lewis and Kristie Shane; five great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Whitehead of Anderson; three sisters, Opal Fort of Paragon, Judy Livermore and Tedi Josephson both of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Sizelove and Patsy Bertrum. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21st at the Englewood Baptist Church with Rev. David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Hayes Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 20th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday at the Englewood Baptist Church.
