Obituary of Pauline West
Bedford Pauline (Chaney) West, 83, of 202046 Plaza Drive, died on Friday December 2, 2005 at 8:30 am at Hospitality House. The daughter of Thomas J. Holbert and Lola (Godsey) Holbert, she was born in Oolitic, IN on March 19, 1922.
Pauline married Carl Chaney on April 13, 1940. Together, they owned and operated a Marathon Station on 7th & Lincoln Avenue, Chaneys Sinclair Station on 7th & R Streets and the Plaza Truck Stop on East 50. She was a homemaker and many years ago was a Cub Scout Den Mother. Carl died of cancer on May 4, 1963. She then married Elbert West on June 20, 1969 and he died on June 21, 1989.
Pauline is survived by one daughter, Vicky Chaney (Thompson) Hill and her husband Arthur of Bedford; Susan (Chaney) Starr, the widow of Paulines son; 5 grandchildren: Sarah (Thompson) High and husband Robert of Bedford; Leslie (Thompson) Schmitt and husband Rich of Bedford; Rhonna (Chaney) Roberts and husband Ryan of Bedford, Joe Chaney and wife Anne of Tinley Park, IL and Dianna (Chaney) Lively and husband, Lyndon of Atlanta, IN. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren: Noah High, Isabelle High, Tylor Schmitt, Darci Roberts, Bret Roberts, Nicole Chaney and Adam Chaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Marie Holbert; both husbands, one son Carl (Skip) Chaney, Jr., one brother William Holbert, one half-brother Roy Holbert and one grandson Jason Thompson. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at Day & Carter Mortuary at 11:00 am, Monday, December 5th, with Jack Voigtschild officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetary. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Day & Carter Mortuary on Sunday, December 4th and from 10:00 am to the time of service on Monday, December 5th.
