Obituary of Jerry Byron Waskom

Bedford Jerry Byron Waskom, 74, of Bedford, formerly of Columbus, IN, died Monday, March 26, 2012 at his residence. Born February 13, 1938 in Tampico, IN (Jackson Co.), he was the son of Ira Lee and Myrtle (Jenkins) Waskom. He married Janice Kay Flinn on December 14, 1957 and she survives. He was a graduate of Tampico High School. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bedford and a former member of the Lions Club in Columbus and Salem. He retired after thirty years as manager of programming at Cummins Engine and had worked part-time for Sears. Survivors include his wife, Kay of Bedford; three sons, Jerry Brad Waskom of Columbus, Brian Kenneth Waskom of Liberty, KY and Barry Flinn Waskom and wife, Janet of Pace, FL; one daughter, Sandra Kay Kelley of Pace, FL; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, David Ray Waskom of Brownstown; one sister, Lonaveen Johnson of Brownstown; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gerald Lee and Larry Dennis Waskom and one sister, Ivajean Thompson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, March 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Darrell Simon and Jack Byers officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
