Obituary of Marjorie C. Hunter
Avoca Marjorie C. Hunter, 90, of Avoca, died at 1:50 PM, on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at her residence.
Born December 1, 1921 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ora and Elizabeth J. (Brewer) Turner. She married John F. Hunter on November 16, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1966. She retired from M. Fine & Sons in Bedford. She was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church and the Missionary Quilting Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Hackett of North Carolina and Mary White of Williams; four grandchildren, Kevin White of Williams, Kent White of Bedford, Kelly White of Shelbyville and April Crysel of North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Timber Landstrom, Bryce and Brittany Umphress, Kelsey White; five great great grandchildren, Emma and Bella Landstrom, Kameron and Makenna White and Hailey Bryant; one sister, Gwendolyn Turner of Avoca. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ed Hunter; four sisters, Betty Boyd, Beulah Mabbitt, Esther Sherrow and Coletia Rollins; four brothers, George, Ray, Fred and Kenny Turner. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 12th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kyle Witmer officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
