Obituary of Jamie Richard Umphress

Mitchell Jamie Richard Umphress, 29, of 300 Sherwood Road, Mitchell, died at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. Born December 3, 1973 in Slidell, Louisiana, he was the son of Wayne Umphress and Deratha Dee (McClintock) Smith. He was employed by Sipes Body Shop in Bedford and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was a SAL member of the Mitchell American Legion Post #250. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Wayne and Mary Umphress of Bedford; his mother and step-father, Dee and Jerald Smith of Mitchell; two sisters, Keri Smith of Mitchell and Holley Bixenman of Bedford; one brother,Cody Umphress of Bedford; five aunts, Kay Sipes, Myra Kendall, Wanda Haase and Connie Bixenman all of Bedford and Beverly Hollon of Kansas; uncle, Ronnie Umphress of Mitchell; niece, Ceara Smith; nephew, Chance Smith; great aunt, Wanda Starr of Bedford and several cousins. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 12th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Spice Valley Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 11th and from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Sunday, October 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
