Obituary of Harvey E. Turpin
Bedford Harvey E. Turpin, 78, of 1214 Oak Manor, Bedford, died at 7:45 pm on Monday, September 10, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born November 28, 1928 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Wayne and Lura (Nicholson) Turpin. He married Phyllis M. Isom on March 10, 1951 and she survives. He was a graduate of the Bedford High School with the class of 1948. He retired from the Keebler Co. after twenty-nine years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army and a member of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church. An avid sports fan, he was a slow-pitch soft ball hall of famer and loved watching all sports.
Surviving with his wife, Phyllis of Bedford are his three children, Jeffery Turpin and his wife, Barbara of Carlsbad, CA, Sherry Turpin Nicholson and her husband, Danny of Bloomington, Bryan W. Turpin and his wife, Kim of Westfield, IN; eight grandchildren, Troy Menaugh, Brooke Hill, Mandy Menaugh Andis, Nicole Turpin, Rebekah Turpin, Thomas Turpin, Haylie Turpin and Spencer Turpin; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Turpin of Bedford, Robert Turpin and his wife, Betty of Plainfield, Wanda Ritchison and her husband, Benny of Indianapolis; a sister-in-law, Ruth Turpin of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Turpin, Jr. and one sister, Betty Turpin (in infancy). Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 14th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Ronnie McLain officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
