Obituary of Virgil L. Turpin

Bedford Virgil L. Turpin, 69, of 701 V Street, Bedford, died Tuesday, December 13th at 11:00 pm at his residence. Born June 15, 1936 in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Everett E. and Lula (Swigler) Turpin. He married Mary Lou Speer on July 17, 1954 and she survives. He was employed with Carpenter Union #1664 where he retired. He was a member of the Eagles #664, American Legion #33 and the Bedford Boat Club. He served in the U.S. Army. Surviving with the wife, Mary, is four sons, James Edward and his wife Pat of Texas, Ronald Wayne and his wife, Cinnamon of Paoli, Jeffrey Dale of Bedford, Virgil Dean and his wife Kesa of Indianapolis, two daughters, Tricia Lewis and her husband, Philip of Mitchell, Diattra Cook and her husband Mark of Bedford, one brother Jesse E. Turpin of Bedford, three sisters, Barbara Hauser of Pennsylvania, Patsy Terrill of Heltonville and Phyllis Johnson of Heltonville, seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: parents, one daughter, Denise Lynn, and one sister, Linda Johnson. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 19th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. George Sites officiating. Burial will follow in Mundell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.
