Obituary of Gerald Vernon Turner
Bedford Gerald Vernon John Turner, 78, of 1310 Trogdon Lane, Bedford, died at 2:45 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2007 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born August 6, 1929 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Earl and Dorothy (Lewis) Turner. He married Barbara C. Arthur on April 14, 1950 and she survives. He was retired from General Motors in Bedford and from the Needmore School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Hawaii from 1952 to 1954. John was a member of the Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford and a founding member of the Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Bedford; two sisters, Phyllis May and her husband, Bernard and Sue Cheek and her husband, Frank all of Needmore; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kenneth Turner, Raymond Turner, Richard Tuner; one sister, Jeannette Cobb; great nephews, Ernie Joel Cobb, Earl Dean Cobb and Timothy Browning. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 27th at the Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford with Pastor Brent ONeal officiating. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery in Needmore. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, November 27th at the church.
