Obituary of Clifford Lee Thompson
Bedford Clifford Lee Thompson, Jr., 80, of 1811 12th Street, Bedford, died at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the Dunn Memorial Hospital.
Born January 3, 1924 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Clifford Lee, Sr. and Blanch (Knight) Thompson. He married Phyllis Lundy on December 9, 1954 and she survives. He was a self-employed contractor in Bedford. He attended the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army.
Surviving with his wife, Phyllis of Bedford are five daughters, Rena Jackson, Lyn McPike, Lee Ann Flynn, Phyllis Jo Hanners and Penny Hutchens all of Bedford; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Donovan Thompson and Gary Brown; one sister, Imogene Thompson and one brother, Jimmy Thompson. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 7th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Wednesday, July 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
