Obituary of Gertie Thompson

Oolitic Gertie Thompson, 105, of 311 Hoosier Ave., Oolitic, died at 4:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at her residence. Born March 25, 1898 in Quinton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Wesley and Ellen (Brassfield) Nicholas. She married Floyd Thompson and he died December 1, 1950. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Raymond Thompson of Martinsville; four daughters, Irene Fulkerson of Mt. Washington, KY, Maxine Woodward of Charlestown, IN, Shirley Wolfe of Hollister, CA and Wilma Fields of Bedford; one sister, Beulah Nicholas of Somerset, KY; twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four daughters, Opal Hooker, Dorothy Roll, Anna Hall and Betty Miller; seven brothers and two sisters. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, August 11th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman and Rev. Jimmy Crane officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
