Obituary of Thomas C. Hughes

Bedford Thomas C. Hughes, 67, of Bedford, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at his residence. Born March 14, 1944 in Bedford, he was the son of Cecil C. and Josephine (Taylor) Hughes. He married Merle Ann Watson on January 8, 1983 and she survives. He retired from NWSC Crane and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a SFC 1st Class Sgt. during the Viet Nam War. Survivors include his wife, Merle of Bedford; three sons, Jesse Hughes, Bryan Hughes and Tommy Lee (Laura) Hughes all of Needmore; three daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Blanton, Vonda (Brian) Bunch and Fonda (Max) Drehobl all of Bedford; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Denny (Joyce) Hughes of Crane; one sister, Joyce (John) Sams of W. Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and David Hughes. Funeral Information Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with David Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 4th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, November 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
