Obituary of Jean Hyslop Terry
Bedford Jean Hyslop Terry, 87, of Bedford, died at 1:41 am on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born April 5, 1922 in Bedford, she was the daughter of William D. and Margaret M. (Mason) Hyslop. She married Wayne (Tick) Terry on July 31, 1942 and he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Bedford High School in the class of 1939 and Christian College (now Columbia College) in Columbia, MO in 1941. She had worked as a dance instructor with the Arthur Murray Studio in Chicago, IL. Jean was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Bedford. She was an avid poll worker for many years and enjoyed the camaraderie while working at Morrisons Office Supply in Bedford.
Survivors include one son, Bill Wayne Terry of Bedford; one daughter, Jan Terry Grow of Fairview, TN; two grandsons, Christopher J. Terry of Bedford and Kevin B. Martin and wife, Maria of Louisville, KY; four nephews, Ron and Jim Terry both of Indianapolis, Mike Terry and wife, Suzanne of Tampa, FL, Pat Terry and wife, Jo of Bedford, their families and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, aunt, Laura M. Studdy and uncle, George W. Studdy.
Jean was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who also had many treasured life-long friends. She gave of herself to others in a selfless manner no matter what the need might have been and will be missed by many. Funeral Information
Jeans wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:45 pm on Friday, June 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. After which, you can join the family for a graveside service at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 26th at Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Donations Information
