Donna was a remarkable teacher who helped instill my love of reading. Once I decided to enter the teaching professional, she continued to be a wonderful mentor and friend. I'm truly sorry for the loss of such an amazing woman.

Our hearts have been torn into shreds of sadness and despair over losing you. We know you are no longer hurting, no longer sick, no longer frail and weak. Finally, you are as strong in body as you were in soul, rejoicing with so many who have gone before you. In your life of devotion to others, you have earned the peace of eternal joy and happiness reserved for those whose lives were lived most closely to the model set for us by Christ. Servitude, love, generosity, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and beauty came easily to you even in this cruel world of war and sickness, of meanness and hurt. Never complaining, you gave your time, money, love and strength to others even to the detriment of your own well-being. And never asked for anything in return. We got to eat with you each week, talk to you regularly, travel the world with you and open a bookstore that was as much yours as ours. Another hundred years and our parting would have been too soon, too sad, too monstrous for us to face. And this, this was too near by any measure man can devise. We loved you, and continue to love you, with a love that can't be contained within this mortal world. Our love extends towards heaven, into eternity, where we will be with you again around the table joking and laughing and rolling our eyes at you leaving your keys again in heaven's gate, at you again misplacing glasses you no longer even need, at our own foibles and awkwardness in this life. Never will a day go by until our own flesh withers that we won't think of you fondly and with love. You were the greatest woman we will ever know and with all of our might we will endeavor to continue the legacy you began, although more imperfectly than you, no doubt. Godspeed you to the bliss of God's love. We'll see you when we get there.

I met Donna and we became friend driving and riding in a carpool to IU in the 1960's. What a wonderful young lady to meet and share her time with me and others. Donna sat beside me at a baby shower about four years ago. We were both older in years but she was still that warm giving girl of years ago. Please accept my condolences on your great loss.

Donna and I were friends while teaching in Franklin and Perry Township. Our "gang" met regularly for dinners and fellowship. In the early 70's we moved to different parts of the state, took new jobs, and started families. Sadly we kept touch with Christmas greetings only. My sincere condolences.

Donna was a wonderful friend. She was loved by all who knew her. She was the most kind and loving teacher ever. She made everyone feel special. Our son was lucky to have been one of her students. She will be greatly missed.

In memory of Donna Kay, my very first friend in first grade. We shared much...sleepovers, always together on the Needmore playground, and many giggles in class. I'll see you again, Donna.

Although I had known Donna since I was a child at the Gulletts Creek church where her grandmother drove the school bus (unheard of in those days!) we really became close when we had our babies two weeks apart. Our children attended pre-school together and we watched them grow up. Then I became best friends with Brian just like I had always been with his mom. It's hard to sum up a lifetime of memories of someone who has touched your heart so deeply. Godspeed precious angel.
