Obituary of Edward C. Swigler
Bedford Edward C. Swigler, 92, 7102 State Road 158, Bedford, died at 3:55 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Born September 6, 1918 in Hart Co., KY, he was the son of Virgil L. and Mariah (Cobble) Srygler. He married Edna Lucille Arnold on April 15, 1939 and she survives. He was retired as a driver for Coca-Cola Bottling in Bedford and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church where he was a past deacon and loved to sing in the choir.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Lucille of Bedford; a son, Larry Micheal Swigler (Loretta) of Crane, IN; a daughter, Peggy Dorsett of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Sherre Zink (Bill) of Bloomington, Carole Cummings, Billie Tumey, Randy Dorsett (April), John Swigler (Regina Moore) all of Bedford, Larry Swigler of Berlin, Germany, Laura Lawson of Bloomington and Kirstin Stickney (Jason) of Carmel; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister, Elizabeth Shaff of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and a granddaughter, Tammy Hurley. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry and Russell Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dive Christian Cemetery where military rites will be accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday, January 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
