Obituary of Fred Allen Sullivan
Bedford Fred Allen Sullivan, 77, of 418 R Street, Bedford, died at 1:27 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Select Hospital in Bloomington after a courageous battle with diabetes.
Born February 24, 1929 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Luther and Gertie (Silvers) Sullivan. He married Maxine Crooks on February 24, 1955 and she survives. He had worked for Indiana Limestone Co. at the McMillan Mill for twenty-two years. He later worked as the business agent for the Operating Engineers Local #841 in Terre Haute for fifteen years. He was also an auto mechanic. He was a member of the First Church of God, Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM and the Operating Engineers Local #841. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Bedford; two daughters, Debbie Smith and her husband, Dean, of Mitchell and Diane Brinson and her husband, Todd, of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Jason Houchin and girlfriend, Stephanie and Jennifer Gerkin and her husband, Gary; eight great grandchildren, Gage Webster, Valarie Ann Gerkin, Seth Houchin, Codey, Christopher, Keyra, Maggie and Shylyn Brinson; one sister, Fannie Morehead of Lawrenceville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Shirley Edington; one brother, Clavorn Sullivan; four sisters, Kathleen Owens, Clydia Grimes, Dorothy Bratton and Eileen Bischoff and one great grandson, A.J. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, January 15th from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Floyd Brick officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 7:30 pm on Sunday, January 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Sunday. Donations Information
