Obituary of Emma M. Stogdill
Bedford Emma M. Stogdill, 91, of 2318 30th Street, Bedford, passed away at 3:45 am on Thursday, July 5, 2007 in Bedford.
Born March 21, 1916 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ed and Jessie (Shanks) Adams. She was a homemaker and worlds best cook. She was a member of the Lovingway Apostolic Church in Bedford. She married Cecil D. Stogdill on September 14, 1940 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2007.
Survivors include one son, David Ray Stogdill of Bedford; one daughter, Catherine Sue Stephenson and her husband, Max of Bedford; two step-daughters, Leona Wilkerson and Mary Lewis both of Columbus, IN; seven grandchildren, Stacey Barksdale, Rev. Wesley Stephenson, Debbie Pridemore, Dana Anderson, Cindy Ward, Deana Johnson and Brady Stogdill; nine great grandchildren, Megan Pridemore, Marissa and Madison Anderson, Connor and Chloe Ward, Wesley Stephenson, II, Troi Dawn and Derrike Barksdale and Braden Johnson; three brothers, Herschel Adams of Montgomery, IN, Rev. Kenneth Adams of Bedford and James Adams of Conway, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Harold Dean Stogdill; five brothers, Walter Lee, Herman Franklin, Clarence F. Dennis E. and Paul Adams; a daughter-in-law, Diana Stogdill. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 7th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Wesley Max Stephenson and Rev. Kenny Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 6th and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Saturday, July 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
