THE FOLLOWING WAS WRITTEN AND READ BY LOVING NIECE BETH STIGALL AT THE FUNDERAL SERVICE MARCH 24, 2007:
I am Beth Stigall, an assimilated Hoosier. I came into the Stigall Family as a Yankee, with no knowledge of persimmons or morels. I had never seen real live gritsw or tasted cornbread. I thought that chickens made eggs and ended up baked.
When I married David, the first grandson, I was blessed by the open-hearted acceptance of these shortcomings by the Stigalls and welcomed into the fold. Because we moved to Florida, it took time for me to begin to know them. In 1978 we bought a farm outside Bedford, wnd were able to join family events. It was a pleasure to develop relationships with each of the Stigall siblings and their families and today I am honored to feel that I have earned my place among them.
Today we are here to say good-bye to Uncle Frank. I wanted to share a few thoughts about him. Frank had strength like the heartwood of the persimmon tree. He was stout-hearted and looked the world straight in the eye. He was stubborn and stalwart, attributes not always found in great supply these days. I believe they were forged in the bossom of his family, who worked the bedrock of southern Indiana as they carved out a living. Frank loved his family and acted on those feelings. When his beloved brother Theodore was battling cancer, Frank shared his strength and encouragement. When we came home to Indiana, Frank joined David and our son Jeremy in setting up our homestead. Again, he was a source of strength when Kim and his wife set up housekeeping. Never asking anything in return, he gave of himself. Most likely, many of you can recall a helping hand from Uncle Frank at some point in your lives. He was like the fruit of the persimmon, soft on the inside. He had a zest for life itself and a sense of humor, unafraid to be Frank.
We can honor him today by continuing to do what he did... reach out to one another. Comfort one another. Support one another. And most of all, maintain the family connection that is a gift to be cherished.

Daddy,
You were the "Greatest Daddy" in the world. You touched the lives of everyone you met in a very special way. You made such an impact in my life and the lives of my husband, children and grandchildren. I would not be the person I am today without you. You were always there for us even when we didn't deserve it. We love you dearly and miss you so much already. I KNOW that you are in a much better place and you will never hurt again in anyway. It is so hard though to think that I won't get to see or talk to you for awhile. You are forever in my heart!
Thanks for being the wonderful man/Daddy in my life! I hope someday that I can leave a Legacy like you did!
I love you and I know that by the Grace of God, we will get through this and we will see you again!
Give Grandma, Grandpa, Ted, Opel, Ollie, Hayden and Tom a big hug for me and tell them we all love and miss them too!
I love you Daddy.
